About Me

utbridge

My name is Katelyn Bolinsky (but I have always gone by Alex), and I am pictured below. I am a junior in honors electrical engineering at the University of Tennessee, specializing in power electronics and renewable energy. In the past, I have done research in cyber security under Dr. Stella Sun and in power systems under Dr. Kai Sun, worked as an engineering counselor for two pre-college summer programs (eVOL9 and 10), served as an honors mentor for the college, and done research in renewable energy policies at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. In these programs, I was given the opportunity to work regularly in a lab both by myself and with a team and act as a leader in my community. I was also awarded as a Top Undergraduate Student in Electrical Engineering, winning the Outstanding EE Sophomore Award. I am currently serving as Vice President of Communications for Student Leadership Council, as well as being an active member for many other engineering and honors organizations and doing research in wireless power transfer under Dr. Daniel Costinett. When I am not working on continuing my education, I enjoy singing, writing, swing dancing, and working with youth at Calvary Baptist Church. I plan to eventually earn my degree in Electrical Engineering so that I can do research in the continued implementation of clean energy sources in electrical systems by working in power electronics, or work in defense.
