Reflection

Honors scholars are required to log their Honors Seminars through a brief reflection on their e-Portfolios. Scholars will chronicle these events each semester to account for attendance and create a written “scrapbook” of sorts. Additional reflection may be required depending on your program. Please check program-specific requirements here.

Please note you are encouraged to do additional reflection. E-Portfolios are an obvious place to compile academic artifacts such as papers, projects, presentations, and accomplishments. Scholars will even use this space to highlight important achievements such as membership on student and professional organizations, roles performed during various research experiences, and service performed in the community. Upon the e-Portfolio’s completion, scholars will be able to look back on their academic careers and achievements.

Reflection can happen in several ways:

  • Students can create a page in order to reflect at critical times during their undergraduate experience:
    • At the conclusion of semesters
    • At the conclusion of academic years
    • At the termination of important major courses
    • During and after research experiences
    • During and after study abroad courses
  • Students can create a page dedicated to certain academic, extracurricular experiences and include chronological, reflective content on how those experience pertain to their goals and ultimate vision
    • Construct a page about Community Service experiences
    • Construct a page about executive or member positions held within Student Organizations
    • Construct a page dedicated to a long term research engagement or role held on a research experiment
    • Construct a page about your academic profession or academic field of study
